Presenting Vertu’s Most Lavish Smartphone Yet

Whether you're walking out of your office for lunch or hitting the gym after hours, it's hard to miss the fact that the vast majority of people will have either an iPhone or HTC One  glued to their hands, plugged into their ears and/or strapped to their arms. However, if you're looking to stand out from the crowd Vertu's new Signature Touch is quite possibly the most luxurious way to go about it.

Arriving in stores today, the Signature Touch is one of the most high-spec smartphones on the market and is packed with suitably high-end features. First-up are the speakers, which have been designed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen and feature Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround sound - so even though you're watching a film on a 4.7 inch HD display, it feels like you're sitting in your home cinema. The second is the camera which puts the iPhone's eight megapixel one to shame with a 13 megapixel main camera on the back (coupled with a 2.1 megapixel Skype-compliant front camera). If you mostly use your phone camera for moody shots on Instagram, don't worry: the Signature Touch runs Android Kit Kat which is currently trying out a beta version of the app - and with 64GB of memory, you'll be hard-pressed to run out of space to snap. And if you happen to run-down the battery you won't have to mess around with cables and plugs: thanks to an electromagnetic pad, this is one of the first smartphones to come fitted with wireless charging as standard.

However, the real advantage to owning one of these phones is the access it gives you to Vertu's concierge service, so no matter where you are in the world or what time is is there is a member of staff ready at the end of a phone line or over live-chat who can cater to your every whim (alerted, like a superhero, by pressing that red button on the right-hand side of the screen). You'll also get access to exclusive, constantly updating offers that change according to your interests and location. For the security obsessed, all communications on the device are encrypted to ensure any especially sensitive info is kept secure.

Every Vertu phone is handmade in the company's Hampshire workshop (in fact you'll find the maker's name engraved inside the SIM card flap). Not only is the frame crafted from grade five titanium, but you can choose a whole host of suitably luxurious leathers to decorate the back including claret calf, light blue lizard and jet-black alligator skin among many others. We could also go into the range of cases, accessories and specially designed headphones to co-ordinate with your new purchase, but we suggest you call up your new concierge for more info.

From £6,750. Available at Vertu, 38 Old Bond Street, London, W1. vertu.com
