Celebrities With The Best Engagement Rings

Since Kim and Kanye got engaged, the whole world has been buzzing about the size and price of her ring.

From all indications, hers is the most expensive.

Here’s a compilation of the most expensive/valuable engagement rings so far.

1) Elizabeth Taylor

The man: Richard Burton

The ring: The 33-carat Krupp Diamond (now known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond). The stone is an Asscher cut, which has been dated at pre-1920s. According to the Gemological Institute of America, the diamond is D color, VS1 clarity and is believed to be internally flawless.

The story: Elizabeth Taylor was given a Bulgari pendant when she got engaged to Richard Burton in 1964. It wasn’t until 1968 that he presented her with the jaw-dropping Krupp Diamond – purchased at auction for $305,000 – which weighs in at 33 carats. And it wasn’t the first diamond of that scale given to the late star. Taylor was presented with a 30-carat engagement ring by third husband Michael Todd in 1957.

2) Paris Hilton

The man: Paris Latsis

The ring: 24-carat, emerald-cut, worth approx. $4.7million.

The story: Paris Hilton was given this staggering engagement ring in May 2005 by then-fiance Paris Latsis, a Greek shipping heir. It was so large that Ms Hilton would complain that it was too heavy, so Mr Latsis also gave her a Cartier eternity band to wear when the large stone became ‘too much’.
The pair called off the engagement just six months later.

3) Kim Kardashian

The man: Kris Humphries

The ring: 20.5-carats, with an emerald-cut diamond flanked by a two-carat trapezoid on either side. The creation was designed by Lorraine Schwartz.

The story: Ms Kardashian may be happily engaged to Kanye West now, but just over two years ago, she was planning marriage to basketball player Kris Humphries. He proposed in front of rolling cameras, and the pair wed in a lavish ceremony. But 72 days later, they called it quits and have since divorced.

4) Beyonce

The ring: An 18-carat flawless diamond by Lorraine Schwartz, worth over $5million

The story: Beyonce may have married Jay-Z in secret, back in 2008, but there was no missing the ring she began wearing after the news was made public. The megastar couple, who had been dating for several years before they tied the knot, are now parents to one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

5) Jessica Biel

The man: Justin Timberlake

The ring: A vintage-style, square-cut diamond engagement ring with an 18-carat stone created by Mr Timberlake in collaboration with Leor Yerushalmi of The Jewelers of Las Vegas. The ring also features two aquamarine elements representing Ms Biel’s birthstone.

The story: Mr Timberlake proposed in December 2011 and according to his now-wife, he needed no help coming up with the perfect design. The actress told InStyle: ‘I had no say whatsoever [in the ring]. I don’t micromanage. . . He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I’ll be honest: He has better taste than I do.’

6) Mariah Carey

The man: Nick Cannon

The ring: The 17-carat $2.5million ring boasts an emerald-cut light pink diamond, surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds and two half-moon diamonds. The creation was designed by Jacob & Co’s Jacob Arabo.

The story: Nick Cannon proposed to the singer in April 2008, and the couple married just one month later. Since that day, they have held a wedding every year by way of anniversary. Ms Carey and Mr Cannon are now parents to two-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

7) Angelina Jolie

The man: Brad Pitt
The ring: A 16-carat custom-designed ring created with Robert Procop. It is believed to be worth around $250,000.

The story: Brad Pitt apparently took a year to design the engagement ring he gave to Angelina Jolie, his partner of seven years, last year. It was created in collaboration with her favorite jeweler Robert Procop, who said: ‘Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration.

‘He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand. . . The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.’

8) Hilary Duff

The man: Mike Comrie

The ring: The 14-carat sparkler boasts a princess-cut stone and is believed to have cost Mr Comrie around $1million.

The story: Mr Comrie, a former hockey player, proposed to Ms Duff in 2010 while they were on vacation in Hawaii after two years together. The couple married within the year, and became parents to son Luca in 2012.

9) Khloe Kardashian Odom

The man: Lamar Odom

The ring: A 12.5-carar radiant-cut ring by Vartan’s Fine Jewelry. It is worth around $850,000.

The story: Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom announced their whirlwind engagement just six weeks after meeting in 2009. Just two more weeks later, they were married.

The couple’s relationship seemed relatively stable until recently – Mr Odom is said to have moved out of the home he shares with his wife of four years, after reports that his ‘drug abuse’ has taken its toll on their marriage.

Both Mr Odom and Ms Kardashian continue to wear their wedding rings, however, and they were pictured together on October 8.
Mr Odom recently pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of DUI and a pre-trial hearing is scheduled for November 8.

10) Melina Trump

The man: Donald Trump

The ring: A 12-carat ring from Graff. A manager at the jeweler called it ‘a million-dollar stone,’ though some reports at the time suggested it was worth 2million.

The story: Billionaire Donald Trump proposed to former model Melania in 2004, after five years. The following year, she became his third wife. The couple, who have now been married eight years, are parents to Barron Trump, seven. Barron is the youngest of 67-year-old Mr Trump’s five children.

11) Duchess Of Cambridge

The man: Prince William

The ring: An oval 12-carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by a cluster of 14 solitaire diamonds set in white gold. It cost £28,500 in 1981, but its legacy as the engagement ring worn by both Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge makes it priceless.

The story: The ring Prince William gave to Kate Middleton in late 2010 is among the most famous in the world. Lady Diana Spencer chose it for her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981 from a selection presented to her by the then Crown jewellers, Garrard of Mayfair.
Unusually for a member of the Royal Family, it was not unique and any member of the public could buy the same ring from the Garrard catalogue.

12) Blake Lively

The man: Ryan Reynolds

The ring: An oval-cut light pink diamond of approximately 12 carats, set in rose gold with pave diamonds. Reynolds designed it with Lorraine Schwartz who said that it would retail for around $2million.

The story: Actor Ryan Reynolds apparently pulled out all the stops when it came to choosing the perfect ring for Gossip Girl star Blake Lively in the summer of last year.
A spokesperson for jeweler Lorraine Schwartz said that ‘they worked together to design a custom setting in rose gold and pave diamonds with a nod to Deco.’

After their South Carolina nuptials, the actress was seen wearing a co-ordinating rose gold and diamond wedding band alongside the engagement ring.
